Tell us whether the prototype is intended to check fit, establish an optical path, hold a sample, protect a source, or explore a new process. Identify the dimensions and surfaces that determine that result. Other features may have room for a fabrication discussion. A clearly stated objective helps distinguish essential requirements from details that can be refined in a later revision.
A sketch can start the conversation if the units, geometry, and end features are readable. For a sleeve or tube, include outside diameter, wall, overall length, and internal clearance. For a plate or window, identify the active faces and mounting edges. Material grade, cleanliness, optical finish, and operating conditions should be specified when they affect the experiment. We can discuss fabrication, finishing, or sourced components for the requirement.
Keep each revision tied to an accepted drawing or written specification. If the second prototype changes a dimension, mark the change and explain whether it affects a mating part. Include the inspection and packaging needed before the component reaches the test setup. When the design moves toward repeat production, we can review tolerances, labeling, kitting, and release quantities using the evidence established during development.
