Quartz components for lighting and photonics

Build the request around the wavelength, optical geometry, and mounting interface. We quote quartz windows, rods, light pipes, protective tubes, and specified precision components.

An optical requirement needs more than a diameter.

Material grade influences which wavelengths a quartz component transmits and how it performs in the intended environment. Identify the operating wavelength or spectral band and state whether transmission, absorption, homogeneity, or another optical property is critical. If your design calls for a particular fused quartz or synthetic fused silica grade, include the full designation and any permitted alternatives.

For a window or plate, define thickness, parallelism, flatness, surface quality, clear aperture, and edge treatment as applicable. A ground mechanical edge and a polished optical face have different jobs and should be distinguished on the drawing. For rods or light pipes, identify the entrance and exit faces, length, support locations, and side-surface requirements. Include coatings as a separate specification when required.

Lighting assemblies may also need protective jackets or quartz parts exposed to heat. Describe the source, temperature conditions, and mounting constraints; do not derive a finished assembly rating from a general material datasheet. We can discuss fabrication, finishing, and sourcing for the agreed component. Inspection methods and optical documentation should be requested with the quote so the acceptance scope is clear before manufacturing begins.

Questions before you order

Is every quartz part optically polished?

No. Specify the active faces and the required surface finish.

Can you quote light pipes and diffusers?

Yes. Include the geometry, wavelength, optical role, and acceptance criteria.

Can you review a synthetic fused silica requirement?

Yes. Send the required grade or the optical and purity specification.

Do you apply a universal thermal rating?

No. The finished part and mounting conditions need application-specific review.

Can optical inspection be included?

State the measurements and records required so the available inspection scope can be confirmed.
