A quartz plate can serve as a mechanical component, an optical window, or a process barrier. Glass Automated Products quotes plates, discs, wafers, windows, sight glasses, and viewports from a single development part to repeat quantities. Send the drawing and explain the part's function so the material, finishing, and supply route can be reviewed against the actual requirement.

Start with the outside profile and thickness. Add holes, cutouts, bevels, chamfers, and the surfaces that locate the component in its mount. Identify the critical tolerances and the drawing datums used to measure them. For a viewport or sight glass, include the sealing arrangement and the dimensions controlling contact with the seal. A flat disc alone does not define a complete pressure or vacuum assembly.

Where the part transmits or redirects light, describe the clear aperture, wavelength range, and optical path thickness. Include required flatness, parallelism, surface quality, and coatings when those are part of the design. A polished appearance does not establish an optical acceptance specification. If a drawing uses an optical standard or test method, identify it precisely so the quoted inspection scope can be aligned with the requirement.

Material selection and final finishing should be considered together. Give us the approved quartz or fused silica grade, any permitted alternatives, and the properties that need to be documented. Tell us which surfaces need protection during packaging and whether the component will undergo further processing after delivery. These details help distinguish a prepared blank from a finished component ready for your assembly procedure.

Can a window have a custom outline?

Yes. Supply the complete profile and edge requirements, including any holes or cutouts.

Do you supply both blanks and finished components?

Both are available to quote. Clearly identify the finishing still planned after delivery.

Is every polished plate an optical window?

No. Optical acceptance depends on specified material, surfaces, geometry, and test requirements.

Can you quote a pressure viewport?

We can quote the quartz component against the required specification. Assembly pressure suitability must be established for the complete design.

How should I specify a scratch requirement?

Provide the exact surface-quality callout and applicable standard or inspection method from your drawing.
